RhodeRides is Rhode Island's peer to peer watersports gear marketplace. We connect people who have gear with people who want to use it — no shops, no middlemen, just locals helping locals get on the water.

For Renters

  1. Browse local gear

    Search by area or gear type to find boards, kites, kayaks and more listed by locals near you.

  2. Request to book

    Pick your dates, select a time window, and send a message to the outfitter.

  3. Get confirmed

    Once the outfitter confirms your request you can complete payment securely through RhodeRides.

  4. Hit the water

    Coordinate pickup details with your outfitter through the app. Simple as that.

For Outfitters

  1. List your gear

    Add photos, describe your gear, set your price, and choose your area. Always free to list.

  2. Confirm requests

    Review booking requests from renters and confirm or decline with one tap.

  3. Coordinate pickup

    Message the renter through the app to coordinate pickup details on your terms.

  4. Earn

Is it free to list gear on RhodeRides?

Yes — listing your gear on RhodeRides is completely free. You keep the full value of your listing price.

Does RhodeRides charge a fee?

A small service fee is added at checkout to support the platform. You'll always see the full breakdown before completing your booking — no surprises.

How does payment work?

Payment is handled securely through RhodeRides at the time of booking confirmation. Outfitters receive their payout directly after the rental is completed.

What if my gear gets damaged?

Renters agree to our Renter Waiver before booking which holds them responsible for any damage during the rental period. We recommend outfitters collect a damage deposit at pickup.

Can I cancel a booking?

Yes — renters can cancel more than 24 hours before the rental for a full refund, or between 2 and 24 hours for a 50% refund. Cancellations within 2 hours of the rental start are non-refundable. See our full Cancellation Policy for details.

Is RhodeRides only in Rhode Island?

Yes — we are currently serving Rhode Island only. We plan to expand to other states soon.

How do I know the gear is safe?

All outfitters agree to our Outfitter Agreement confirming their gear is accurately described and in safe working condition. We encourage renters to message outfitters through the app with any questions before booking.

How do I communicate with my outfitter or renter?

All communication happens through the RhodeRides app. Once a booking request is made a message thread opens between the renter and outfitter to coordinate everything in one place.
